Someone wanted to know about instagram and why she need it. She said “Couldn’t I just post photos on Facebook or another social network?”. I told her that online life is moving fast. It is very difficult to keep up with technology these days especially if you are a business owner. You have to be on top of it and at least follow the masses.
People are moving so fast on internet looking for something better, cool, simple or new. They want to be the next Ashton kutcher. Remember he was using twitter when no one was?
So i explained to her that Instagram is a popular photo-sharing app for smartphones. Compared with other social networks, Instagram is relatively simple—it’s focused exclusively on sharing photos with your friends.
To use Instagram, you’ll need to download the Instagram app on your smartphone—it’s available for Android, iPhone, and Windows Phone.
After you download the Instagram app, you’ll need to create an account and add a profile picture. You can create an account with your email address or sign in with an existing Facebook account.
But here is what i wanted to talk about: Common Instagram terms.
Hashtags? Feed? Filters? If you’re new to Instagram, there are a few terms that may seem a little confusing at first. Reviewing some of the most commonly used terms will give you a better understanding of how Instagram works and what to expect as you get started.
1. Captions and Hashtags. A hashtag is any word in a post’s caption that’s preceded by a pound sign (#). You can add text captions to any post that you share on Instagram.
2. Feed. Whenever you or the people you follow post a photo, it will appear in your feed.
3. Filters. You can apply a filter to give your photos a unique or artistic look.
4. Posts. The photos that you share on Instagram are called posts.
You can start with that for now and we will learn more as we go along. Happy instagramming.
